Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Intermittant locked Door Issues (stays "locked')

    Hi all!

I have a quick question regarding doors! I have a 2012 Golf TDI Mk6. It drives really well, but it's always had a few quirks. I have had it since new, but we had added some after-factory additions (GPS, reversing camera - all VW parts, but added after), which I think has always impacted the overall electronics.

Anyway, over the last couple of years, I have had issues with the doors. I am now approaching the third time in about 2 years where I need to get a door fixed. The door just stays "locked" and I cannot open it from the outside. It's happed to the driver's side, front passenger, and now it is the rear passenger door's turn. It costs $450-500 every time I need to get one fixed.

Has anyone else had this issue, and is there a more affordable way to fix it? I have been taking it to the local VW Service Centre. I am based in Australia.

    Many thanks!
