Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • MK6 questions about A/C

Hi all. I have had my 90TSI Golf Wagon for a few years. Love it, one thing I have always hated the air conditioner isn't as cold as I expect. I have checked the piping is getting super cold in engine bay and when I put a thermometer into vent its at 7 degrees C, which is cold. But it doesn't get super cold in the cabin. The fans work perfectly

Is this normal? I am just worried I have read all the horror stories of compressors dying, but mine still blows coolish air, but not icy cold air. Even though in the vent the temp is just above freezing

I haven't driven lots of VW's, but have done other Euro's are they get icy cold. All the Japanese cars I've had get super cold from the moment you start the car.

    Any thoughts?
