Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • 118TSI Long history of unresolved P0444 Evap. Purge Control Valve Circuit Open

I'd like to resolve this recurrent issue if I can without driving the car some distance to another VW service centre. The problem existed before we purchased the car 2 years ago and was supposedly fixed by a VW dealership in NSW. They replaced:
    • charcoal canister and breather hose

We have had it checked by local mechanics who are unable to find any faults. They reset the DTC but light just keeps coming back on.
    It's getting expensive and frustrating.
Any advice or suggestions would be welcome.

    Hi mate

Prob a bit late, but I had same problem . 6 return visits before it was finally fixed, both cables were damaged , so even through they repaired everything , the engine light kept coming on, once they changed the loom, it was all good
