Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Replacing RCD310 with an RCD330+ Apple CarPlay

    Hi,

I’m interested in replacing the RCD310 in my 2011 mk6 Gold 77tsi (base model without steering wheel controls or Bluetooth).

I have done some research and it looks as though the RCD330+ has the same cable config at the back and videos of the switch make it look very simple.

Some people have reported that they cannot pickup AM radio stations.

So my question is... does anyone have any experience fitting the RCD330+ ApplePlay in a MK6 Golf and if so do you have any insight into the reported AM radio issues?

    Thanks,
    Andrew

You could replace the head unit with a car joying model.
VW Golf Android Stereo sat nav system - Joying

Then you can add this device which allows apple carplay. Then you will have a device which does both android and apple car play.
Joying New Developed Zlink Box for Android Auto Car Stereos

You can also add gps, reverse camera, digital radio etc.

Don't forget to grab yourself a harness so there is no soldering involved and its super easy to install.

I did it is couple of years ago. Pretty great upgrade. Reverse camera on my Amarok is the greatest upgrade. Took me most of a day to install everything.

Only problem I've had my screen stopped working properly, contacted them and they sent me out a new screen. Was an easy change out.

I'll be adding carplay and a dash cam shortly as well.

I've just fitted the RCD330+ with Carplay in my MK6 GTi. Its a straight plug and play OE unit.
Also had it in my MK6 Jetta.

Being an OE unit there is no issues with it at all. Radio works perfectly.
