Hey guys and girls, first post here, I'm sure this has already been brought up many times in the past but can't seem to find a post which answers my question.

    So I drive a Stage 1 mk6 GTI @178kw

Will be going stage 2 at tax return time, but will be needing a down pipe, I've currently got a miltek sports catback and I love the sound but would love to make it a little bit louder and have a deeper note to it as well as some overrun on the idle downshifts, has anyone used or heard of a down pipe that will allow for such things or am I dreaming?

So to summarise this ^^ I'm after a decent down pipe to allow a deeper note and much needed performance gains!

Thanks for reading can't wait to hear from some of you soon!

Generally a 3” DP will naturally have a deeper note because of the larger diameter.

YouTube clips are really hard to get sound quality/volume. Much better off hearing it in the flesh.

Gotcha okay, so realistically it doesn't matter what brand I go with just as long as it's 3" or bigger?

You wont get a one bigger than 3 inch anyway. you should double check that your Milltek cat back will mate to other brands of downpipe. Most of the time when I have dramas fitting random downpipes to existing cat backs, it's Millteks.

They come with a handful of adapters and customers turn up without them or they have been lost.

It's easiest if you have DP and catback from the same manufacturer, however given that you're currently connected up to the stock DP pretty much any DP that connects the same "should" fit/work.

However I'd go by what Gavin says as he's fitted way more exhaust systems than I have.
