Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Have my Headlights gone mad

I always have the headlight switch in the Auto mode.. no probs. yesterday while driving in thick fog I switched the headlights on, to use the fog light switch.
Now the Auto mode is headlights on all the time.. Turn the switch to the headlight position and when the car is stopped, lights stay on for 30 secs before going out, and no alarm to say that the lights have been left on.
    What have I done?

Have you got "Coming Home/Leaving Home mode" switched on ? IIRC that leaves the lights on for a short time after you get out of the car (so you can find keys, open house/garage doors etc).

Or possibly something like a splattered bug blocking the light sensor (on the windscreen near rear view mirror).

I turned off the leaving home coming home delays. The lights come on and stay on with the motor running except if you turn the switch the 0 position. Turn the motor off remove keys no warning beep the light just go out themselves.
