  • oppinions on resetting springs

    hey what do u guys think about resetting the gti springs? I havnt had any experience having springs reset but i was told they will eventually sag.. kinda thought the gti springs were stiff enough n just a little lower maybe 30 35mm would be sweet.

    Why would you do that when you can buy them off the shelf. A fella in Perth got some in for his Skoda from the UK and they were $400 landed. JKM is the company he bought from. Reliable and personal friends of my mate here in Adelaide.

      shame those blokes only sell eibach springs which only lower the car 15mm you could also try www.tirerack.com however im not sure how their shipping price would be.

        Rennenhaus sells the Neuspeed ones for a mk5 golf for $400 inc. delivery.

        The only reason I ordered Eibach is because the spring loading is different on the Golf & Octavia, and Eibach are the only ones who make Octavia specific ones.

          You can get them reset downwards (but not upwards). They'll last 2-4 years before they start to sag. It should cost about $60 a pair & take about 45 minutes per pair.

          A 30mm drop is probably too much for the OEM spring to cope with.

          What is the OEM spring rate compared to the various aftermarket offerings?

          Is the OEM spring linear wound or progressive? Same question for the aftermarket stuff.
