Mischa, what is your obsession with Italian women? I say let's hear it for the Swedish, and Finnish.

I'd like to add that my 1.4 TSI took a 300km, fast, twisty flogging today and performed flawlessly without the udpate/recall

Does anyone know from what date they are being recalled is it just the first ones or all TSi's? I've only had mine 3 weeks and I had to wait 16 weeks to get it.Ill be very upset if I have to give it back

I received the recall notice in the mail today.
They say it applies to all 1.4TSI engines and the recalls is because they've discovered there could be run problems with the engine when the outside temperature is cold.
It doesn't say how 'cold' is cold but considering this is a European car, I'm guessing it's probably not that likely that we'd have problems unless you often take the car out for a spin at 3-4am in the morning in the middle of winter.
The upgrade is labelled campaign 24M3 - which my car received when I took it in for the 1yr/15K service. But there's a fault with this upgrade that renders the boost gauge dormant in regular driving. It's now an On/Off thing. I get max boost when I go wide open throttle, and it shows no boost otherwise.
I don't notice any performance differences though, probably just cosmetic, but I've been booked in so they can take a look at it for a couple of days. They've been instructed by VW to perform certain tests to find the fault.

Got my letter too.
And the cold weather on the way into work seems to be the only time it happens. I thought it was random.
It is really crap on the freeway when I'm expecting 170 bhp and get about 50.
at the moment I get variable boost - will be interesting to see if the same issues you mention (on/off on the gauge) arise for me post re-flash.

Must admit that since 24M3, the boost dial seems pretty dead (like warhead).
Nothing...nothing...FULL BOOST on the gauge. I never took too much notice of it before (it has no numbers on it, so it's pretty pointless really) while it bounced up & down like a crazy thing. But it's definitely a lot less 'responsive'.
Other than that, 24M3 seems A Good Thing. Car runs smoothly with plenty of power. I'm still a happy vegemite.2007 Golf GT | DSG | TR | roof | iPod rubbish | R line fog grilles | R satin mirror caps | R pedals | R console trim | colour coded GTI valences | R32 Ormanyts
