Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. • Water leaking into mk5 fuse box and footwell

So strangely i had noticed this last time but thought i left my window down so i let it go but today again i noticed my foot well was drenched.

I also had a look at the fuse box inside the car and noticed water around there. I checked around the sunroof, near the glass, felt the interior around the A pillar but its all dry. the water seems to be coming from around the fuse box area, going down to where the leaver to lift the bonnet is and then building up in my foot well.

    any thoughts? :S

Have you tried cleaning the sunroof drains?

I would say sunroof drains also.
They run down the A Pillar and out at the door hinge.
If blocked the water can find its way along much the same path and onto the floor.

Also the drain pipe can come out of the back of the rubber grommet nipple thing and leak into the car.

i did shove some whipper snipper cord down the hole to see if it was blocked but it kept going through. I cant seem to find a drain location that comes out near the door hinge, is it located somewhere else?

Ok so it seems I gave some mis information. The drain exit is not the same as the MK4.
They route down the A pillar and terminate under the rain tray.
You will need to remove the rain tray & possibly the windscreen wipers to get to them

okay so i was able to find the issue. Removing the a pillar i found that the hose that runs along the site goes into another larger hose which exits under the rain tray had come out meaning all the water was coming into my car down

            All fixed now!
