  • Fitting genuine xenons to a non-xenon car

Has anyone retrofitted genuine xenons to a halogen car? i'm thinking i could get my brothers to ship me over some second hand genuine xenons from the fatherland and i could pull the rest of the stuff needed from a wrecked gti here. i'm just a bit unsure about the autolevelling and washer systems. i can get a hold of the control unit for autolevelling but what other specific wiring and sensors would i need? i might end up having to buy something like this http://www.kufatec.de/shop/product_i...-Golf-5-V.html but im not too keen on doing that @ 390euros however their washing kit seems more reasonable @ 39euros provided i can pull the system from a car over here.

    any advice/thoughts/experiences please cheers.

    Hey

They is a guy on the golfmkv forums who retrofitted OEM Xenons. He asked a few weeks back for some VAGCOM help to enable them and I helped him out.

He doesn't have the ALS or the headlight washers though. He has to adjust them manually.

Although he did send me this link. It is half english half something but it was very comprehensive. Link

OMG just don't even go there, there are enough ricers around my neighbourhood with aftermarket HID's blinding everyone on the streets.

From memory you will need at least, auto levelling, headlight washers and the appropriate headlight assembly. This all equals lots of money that if you wanted to get done properly you should have gone down the path of fitting as an option. If it isn't an option on your current car then save up for it on your next one.

I'm sure that this technology is beginning to filter down to the cheaper cars now.

are they factory or dealer fitted? i'm quite sure the golf gt came with them as an option.

Errr... bi-xenons are a factory install, not a dealer install.

If HID (Xenon) lights are fitted to a car that does not have a projector headlight assembly, there will always be glare as the light output does not cut out evenly. Instead, the light output will be uneven and scattered all over the place, which in turn will cause glare for other drivers. Regardless of levelling sensors and headlight washers, if you don't have a projector headlight assembly I wouldn't recommend it.

However, if you have a projector headlight assembly then I would definitely say go for it. It makes a huge difference and I reckon its one of the first mods anybody should do to their cars.

Have you tried getting a complete used set of lights Mischa? I know they're pricey but did you have a go?

to do it on a budget i might have my brothers pull individual lights off wrecked cars over in germany. and then to keep it easy ill pull the sensors and shizzle off a car here.

Question - if you pull lights off a LHD car will they suit the requirements of our RHD, and our ADRs.

Might be an expensive error to import them ?

Most genuine Hella lights are switchable. Flick of a switch and the go from LHD to RHD.

you should have factory fitted these misch.. n00b. you also should have gotten a sunroof in which girls could party out of..

go the brother option, and get them to ship them with the secret plan.
