  • MKv 1.4 GT LOW COMPRESSION ON CYLINDER 2

My sisters mk5 gt 1.4 supercharged engine has low compression on cylinder 2. Car just lost power and CEL came on? What could be reason for that? Time to pull the engine out And rebuilt?done only 115000kms.

What fuel do you run in it?

These are the same basic motor as the 118TSIs that crap themselves in the MK6s.

It is somewhat common for the early generation 1.4 tsi twinchargers to burn their exhaust valves.

Low compression will either be that or a cracked piston (rare on the early gen 1.4 TSI's)

Failing that, if the engine is no longer running or running horrendously - then there is a chance the chain has slipped a tooth or 2 (chain tensioner failure) and you have had valve to piston contact - but with that i would have expected more than 1 cylinder to have low compression.

Get a leak down test done, this will tell you if the valves are at fault.
