  • engine cover breaking on mkv gti

Am angry at this car! For the 3rd time now all my engine cover mounts have broken and my engine cover is flapping away in my engine bay. What annoys me is my local dealer Austral newstead refuse to fix it under warranty. So I have to drive it to another dealership Highway Auto to be repaired. So theyve repaired it twice and yep once again its broken.

this is a bit of an angry rant but has anyone else had this trouble? I want to remove it all together and get an EVOMS but apparently that'll void my warranty

who broke it? the dealer or you? If they broke it they need to replace it.

The secret to removing the engine cover is to warm the engine up first! Once doing that mine just pops off nicely

If you get an aftermarket engine cover you also need to get an aftermarket intake as its all integrated

no one broke it.. it just breaks.. i never touched it. Popped the bonnet once n there it was flappin around.. They fixed it n next time i look its broken again.. N yeah repaired again broken again.. The rubber bushes just seem to keep sheering off i have no idea why.

I'd get the evoms intake and do away with the cover alltogether but yeah one of the mechanics says it'll definitely void my warranty.

Most insulting thing was Austral Volkswagen wanted around 250 just to replace the rubber bushes saying that after it had been repaired under warranty it being broken again wasnt a warranty issue... wankers.

I wanna put in an official complaint about their service there.

They cost $4 each from ECS Tuning. I've split one & the dealer has wrecked two. Rather than argue over who did what I ordered a few & along with some other bits and pieces (to make it worthwhile, because the freight is about $70, as they only use couriers). The dealer wanted $52 each just for a rubber grommet!
