    Can anyone help please?

I have all the symptoms of a stuffed diverter valve (screech/hiss on boost, weird sputter/miss sometimes on gear change) except for a noticeable loss in power which is strange.

    1) Is this possible or would it be something else?

    2) If I take it off and have a look (seems easy to do according to some other threads) will is cause any error codes?

    3) Am i just being paranoid and the noses etc are normal?

    Cheers

    1) Maybe, it can start as a small hole and get bigger - performance will get worse over time. I don't think you'd normally get missing though, just a lack of boost and hissing noise.

My engine was getting the occasional miss and it was an intermittently faulty oxygen sensor. I believe dodgy coilpacks are also reasonably common. Both of these would show up straight away on Vagcom or the dealers computer. (Even the blown DV will when it gets bad enough).

    2) No, not as long as you leave the ignition off.

    3) All VW owners who visit car forums are paranoid.
