Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Golf Pacific rear wiper

    Hi
on reading the hand book explaining how to operate the rear window washer I can't get it to operate. So does this model have a rear washer if not I would be better off removing the wiper to stop smearing.

It should have a washer. It can sometimes take a few seconds for water from the washer reservoir under the bonnet to get to the spray nozzle on the rear windscreen.

If it's not working, I'd be getting it checked under warranty. Running the wiper without sufficient water won't just smear, it can potentially lead to long term scratches in the glass.
    Nothing to see here...

I'd say due to it having a wiper it would almost have to have a washer. Mine comes through reasonably quick (within a second of pushing the stalk) so I'd have it looked at if I were you.

        Water in the tank?

Sounds like a crimped hose, and yeah, I get water pretty much straight away too. With a line that long it would have a non return EGR style valve in it, which if faulty would mean the whole line has to refill before you're gonna get water. To test this I'd flip the wiper away from the glass and operate the washer for a minute or so to see if water EVER came out. If it takes ages - non return valve. If it never arrives, blocked or crimped!

Mabey the return valve comes from Ford?

            Thanks Guys

It is raining here at the minute so filled the water bottle to the top and moved the car into the rain. Moved the wiper blade off the window and held down the stalk until water came thru. So it is working now.. will try tomorrow to check it is holding pressure.
            thanks
