Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. • ST3 Australian Reseller.

After a lot of thought I have decided to set myself up as the Australia and New Zealand reseller of the ST3.
I decided to do this as I am very happy with the product myself and the offer was made to me during the many conversations I have had with ChippedUK.
ChippedUK were very keen to have a reseller here in Australia to help eliminate the problems with the UK being so far away from us which has previously resulted in delayed delivery times and even damage in one case.

I believe that I can offer this at reasonable prices compared to other similar product within the marketplace due to my low overheads.
Obviously there are costs that need to be covered however I am sure you are all aware that the original pricing from ChippedUK was only introductory pricing and it was to end soon.
ChippedUK have informed me that the special introductory pricing has ended and they are now charging the prices advertised on their own website.

I am quite sure that if I had not taken this on then someone else may have which could have resulted in the pricing being substantially higher. This is another reason i decided to give this a go and try to keep things fair.

I have put a website together which allows for online ordering and payment and it is my aim to provide an A1 service.
Units will be delivered within 3 business days via registered parcel post which is included in the pricing.
On the off chance that a customer receives a faulty ST3 then I will take care of the warranty locally and supply a replacement from local stock.

I look forward to hearing all your feedback and hope to have the support of some of you in the future.
    The website address is www.lcautobits.com

Over the coming months I will be adding more content to the website including the long awaited Dyno charts and other information. I also hope to add more products in the future.

Good luck with the business. If I have to "settle" for a GTI rather than an R32, I'll consider your product!
    Nothing to see here...

Good work Logzy ... I am very interested, but didn't you mention something about needing VAGCOM to get rid of errors? I spose my main concern really is needing to put back to standard for a service so there are no warranty problems. I need it to obviously show no errors that might give VW an indication that it has had a mod

Is there any ways around all this without having to fork out and learn about VAGCOM?

Learning to clear the errors with vag is easy. Only paying was hard. Though $309 delivered for the micro-can version was pretty good value.

if anything goes wrong while you've got the program activated, the logs the car takes will be more than enough info for the dealer to ascertain that you've been fiddling with the computer.

At present there is no solution other than VAG COM.
ChippedUK are working on the issue and will advise when the problem is solved.
I know that answer is not what we are all looking for but its is the best i can offer at the moment.
I am also in the same boat as everyone else and would like to see it fixed ASAP but like i said they are on to it so hopefully its not too far away.

In the coming weeks / months i am trying to gather as much information as i can and will add all of this to the website.
There is also a heap of independent reviews from others in the UK if you Google Chipped UK ST3

Will you keep a mailing list of current Australian ST3 owners so you can email out updates for those of us who can't check your website (and this one) regularly?

I bit the bullet and ordered myself a genuine VCDS (Vag-Com) so I can clear my own DTC's, but am still very interested in finding out when the upgrades will be available.
I'd even done something silly and purchased one of those cheap and shonky VAG-COM cables off of ebay. That was a total waste of time and money as it didn't work a crap and couldn't clear anything.

I know that dealers could find out that I've played with the ECU if they really wanted, even if I reset it back to stock.
Just that I think if they don't see any error codes (DTC's) they won't get suspicious and they won't look any further.
As we all know the VCDS won't reset the reflash counter back as it's supposed to so I'm very keen on hearing about an upgrade to fix that.

If you want my email address for upgrades/newsletters please let me know and I'll send it.

Good luck with the new venture, Logzy. I'm glad someone the VW community knows has taken this on, and not someone we don't know of.

I'm sure you'll let us know if ever you introduce the flash for us TSI guys...

Just to clarify, the ECU does not log anything other than fault codes. It does not log boost or any other similar parameters. The fault codes are the same whether you are running the reflashed program or not. If you took the car to the dealer with the reflash loaded they could take it for a drive and measure boost etc. If you are able to revert to standard their logging will appear normal. As part of the reprogramming process the fault codes are cleared anyway.

The current problem is that the other control modules on the high speed can bus (ie. steering assist, ABS, etc.) temporarily lose comms with the ECU while the reflash is being loaded and these other modules log the loss of comms. Presently people are using vagcom to clear these comms errors. This is not unique to the ST3, Bluefin does the same (although they are apparently working on a fix), and the likes of APR, GIAC, etc. do the same but the operator clears the errors after loading in the flash. It does seem to depend on the combination of modules in the particular vehicle however, I recently checked a friends Bluefinned car and his was the first I've checked that has not showed any errors (or the errors cleared by themselves after a short period of time).

i'm talking about if you're driving along and something dies in the car, then all the sensors in the car log their status as well as the fault code appearing.
