Well when I bought mine, one of the deciding factors was the TSI in stock, ready to go had over 300kms on it, and the TDI I purchased was still covered in plastic straight off the truck, and I test drove it suspension chocks and all. I figured you can't get newer than that!

I'd make sure they sweeten the deal to your satisfaction, but as previously mentioned it's not that big a deal unless you are anal about running it in like I was.

I thought the dealers could reset the speedo anyway - why wouldnt they do that??

THey can but its restricted on how many times it can be done and can only be done while below 100kms or something similar...

I wouldnt accept the car either.
New is under 30km max AFAIC
            300km is ex demo.

Edit: Yes extended warranty would be worth it.
Try and screw as much as you can out of them.

They can reset, so possibly this car has 300km + 100km on it.

300km IS a big deal for a new car. That could be close to 3 hours or more of driving.

Explain how 3 hours or more is possible for a new car, delivered new, at the dealer's with no aftermarket parts or services fitted?

And....the tint would (probably) not have cost more than $100 - $150.

Talk to the tint guy. It's usually a subby. He won't give a bugger.

That's BS....300kms is not on...I asked the Leasing person when I got my Jetta and he was very clear - nothing over 50km...that allows for driving on and off the boat, it allows for driving at dealerships and back and forth to tinting and paintshops etc. I also stated to the dealer pre pickup ...anything over 50k and you keep it...it came with 29...and that was fine by me...300...NOT ON. Jesus you guys, stand your ground and don't let these pricks get away with this ****....it's patently obvious that someone had a nice little drive in the car ...make them pay or don't take delivery. Then ask yourself ..would you let your new R8 Audi come with 300klms on the clock.?..I DON'T THINK SO.

The other issue you have is that if anything goes wrong with the car then tell them it happened during the 300km before you got it..

My GTI had 41km on it on delivery and I was not impressed. In the metro area, anything more than 20km or so and it has clearly had trade plates hanging off it and some hoon fanging it for all it's worth! Motor registry and back is all anyone should wear . . . on and off the boat adds little.

The bloke who has just done the car salesman's course and still is unsure what mileage makes a demo no doubt has found his metier. More than 100km and it's a demo.

Another 5% off the negotiated price or 10% off RRP if the price was not more than 5% off RRP, or something like that. Someone's had a party in that car!

Are you quoting a law or regulation or just stating an opinion?

I saw my car yesterday - it had 21km on the odo - fair enough.
