  • Electric power steer problem

My mk5 Gti has been a great , trouble free thing up until a couple of days ago. I started the car and the tyre pressure light came on, followed by traction control light then the steer light. I had no power assist and had to drive home. On my arrival at home, I restarted the car and all was fine. I have since driven it a few times with no issue. Any ideas? The car is a MY09 golf GTI , dsg with 123000 km

How old is the battery? I have found that with low voltage often comes warning lights etc. If your battery is getting weak the voltage drop caused by the load on the battery turning the starter can cause some issues. Also modern cars are a lot like computers and if there is a problem a reboot read restart will solve the odd, out of the blue problem.

Could also be the clock spring or steering column control unit...
