Do I place my order now for my GTI? Wonder how long I will have to wait? Is there any point waiting longer until my08/09 model comes out? even though the MKIV won't be out for ages? Decisions, decisions.

    DSG
Leather? still indecided (so I guess can't order until I decide)

Good questions to be asking .. but if you like how it looks now .. it won't change if its a 2008 or 2009 model (your mind). I wondered much teh same thing, but really .. it just came down to teh fact that I want it soooooo much I just couldn't wait .. in fact I probably overpaid to get one that was on the ship coming over when they were a bit scarce a few months back.

Go for it .. you will love it .. and five door red .. you can't really make a mistake can you!

Why don't they just release a 'special' edition like this along with the last batch Golf GTI Mk5 ??:

Hahaha... easy, they won't make money on it
Stick with the V, just because a new model comes out doesn't mean it still isn't a fantastic car!

Are they changing the engine for the '09 models even though we aren't expected to get the MVI for some time? Is an engine change for the MY08/09 models expected?

I believe they will change to the CCTA engine (timing chain etc) for Australia sometime in the near future, as the USA GTIs have been getting the new engine for several months now (so it wasn't a pure MY2009 change).

As well as the "TSI" engine, they may fit drums to the rear, go back to window winders and go AM only on the radio
