  • Remove front seats?

to remove the front seats (to fit under seat drawers) what is the tool I need and where can I get it from?

On the OEMPL.US website how to, it says you need a 10mm triple square socket, but you need a driver not a socket.

    Any help greatly appreciated

You don't need to remove the front seats, you can rivot the bracket on without having to do this and screw the unit in place without having to remove it. There is another how-to somewhere else that goes into detail on this but it's pretty straightforward, mine arrive next week I hope so will let you know how I get on.

I found the best price was from tmtuning as it was $80 shipping (I also had some extras shipped at the same time like the gti open front vents etc) but the $80 covered these and was their base price.

You don't HAVE to remove the seats, but unbolting them and laying them back against the rear seat makes things waaay easier. Trick is not to disconnect the airbag cable under the seat, as you can inadvertently trigger a fault if you switch the ignition on while doing the job.

The triple square driver bits aren't exactly thick on the ground, and most retailers give you a strange look when you ask for one (at best they go get a hex bit for you!), but it's a tool that will come in handy if you plan on doing more stuff on your Golf. Pick up a 12mm as well when you get the 10mm - there's a few uses for that size too.

Maverick - I did the same with the shipping when I got mine - a bunch of smaller items to fill up the space! TM's got generally good prices - it's the shipping that stings

if youre in it for the long run get a set of these

Should cost about $50-$60 from your local hardware store. I got mine at bunnings.

The tool you are after is actually an m10 spline bit. Some call it triple square. Some call it other things. But yeah. Thats what you want. Kit has 4 Spline Bits: M6, M8, M10 and M12.

There are cheaper tools available if u hunt about but if you buy decent quality tools you should only ever need to buy them once
