GTI 5 Door, DSG, Blue Graphite, Latte Leather.

Car located at VW in Sydney, and secured to my order, so should have it in a couple of weeks - excellent, no long wait.

Will add tint, but not at dealer's offer price of $700.......

    Time now to and celebrate.

        congrats Gerhard! WOOO HOOOO

$700 for tints? i only paid like $4something for tints on my tdi.... bit of fluff under tints in places, and lifting in 2 corners.... tints need to settle, so waiting till a month or so to see if it does....

Man, dealers know how to smack you with extras.... Why anyone would pay $2500 for a sat nav is beyond me!! Bluetooth was $750, i thought NAH, i dont answer my phone even when im not driving! hahaha

Thanks for the shameless plug Mischa, just a wee bit far from Melbourne to nip over for a tint I must update my profile now that I'm a full blood.

Have found a plug on the forum for Peter at Aust Auto Tint who's a bit closer, will give him a try.

Would you believe I haven't seen the combo - but I'm a bit of a colour bogun (well a total colour bogun actually) so it's the Colour Boss's choice.
However, 4 of the sales peoples I dealt with at various dealerships all reckon the combo is tops. The dark car gets a lift from the lighter interior, apparently.

Too true. To bypass the 4 month wait, I chose to accept this car which has the rear parking sensors fitted. Cost me a bit extra, but when you decide you want something 4 months is too long to wait.....I'll save that on petrol over the next 4 months running this instead of the Jackaroo as well.

The spunky little lady at the stealer tried to tell me I could only get the tint through them if I wanted to preserve the Warranty - HoHoHo I thought, but she was only following orders.......

Congrats on your new car, gerhard

BTW, did you have to pay extra to get your car "shipped" from NSW to VIC? My dealer tells me it'll cost me an extra 500 bucks to have the car I want "shipped" from QLD to NSW.

It's that or a painfully long 4 months wait

I reckon that smells like crap. Ask the dealer do you have to 'pay' for the freight costs ex-factory as well?

I was told that if I wanted to grab a car that was already at a dealer in another state, freight would be payable. Apparently VW charges the dealer freight to move the car from VW company stock to the dealership (sounds reasonable). My dealer would re-imburse the other one the full cost (including the freight already paid) and then I would pay for moving the vehicle to my dealer. Again, this is reasonable in a commercial sense.

In my case I paid extra for park sensors because I didn't want to wait, and I will at least halve my fuel use for the waiting period, which will pretty much pay for the difference.

If you know which dealership has your specification in stock, you could perhaps try buying the car from them, and taking a little trip to collect it. I believe a QLD dealer can register a car for you in NSW, but not sure about that.

If it's VW stock, tell the dealer he's a thief and go elsewhere.

Sorry....you missed my point. It's the very neat rounded 500 bucks that got me.

                      Not a $648.00 for freighting...or $489.00...nah...just the obligatory $500 thankyouverymuch.

I notice Steve you are in Mindarie... Must be just around the corner from me.

Anyway when I bought my Red oil burner, the Dealer had to get it over from Melb. He was telling me that while the car's remain in VW stock, VW pay for all shipping... Regardless of where and how many times. But as soon as the car is taken into dealer stock. Then Dealers have to pay freight if they want to move it around.

                        Just food for thought.

                        Cheers,
                        Andrew

Ahhh...that makes sense! Thanks guys for the clarification

I'll definitely question the dealer regarding the status of the car (i.e. if it's VW stock or QLD dealer stock).

Do take some pics when you get hold of your new car, gerhard!
