I love the look of the V Mischa posted..It's something about how phat it looks but I think more drop with 19's would be best, especially if the car is going to be DRIVEN and not whored out on showgrounds

19" is minimum these days.. i'd put 20" on everything.

            20s will scrape.

be realistic and keep in mind of potholes, speed humps, and drive ways.

            get 19s with a 35 sidewall or 18s with a 40 side wall.

20s ....you will have major issues. buckled rims, heavy steering, potholes, you'll kill your shocks, springs, cook your brakes etc.

i got 19s on a Jetta and even then i have to drive in the middle of 2 lanes sometimes because of potholes, electricity man holes on the roads etc just so the rims dont buckle.

At the risk of sounding noob, wouldn't 20' scrap the outside of your arch and make turning a pain in the behinds?

hahaha noob!, nah just kidding man. yeah. someone noted before. "notice how the wheels are straight"'. dumpage on 20s would mean one would have to do like 8pt turns.

i reckon that mk5s look better dropped more with 19s. oh. also no chrome

At the risk of being flamed, I think they look ridiculous

If you want 20 inch rims I'd be getting a skyline or similar. For mine they ruin the sophisticated look of the car. The Golf is certainly not a car I would classify as a cruiser.

It's all personal opinion though, so if you like them and want to get them, then go for it, however I wouldn't want to be trying to go around any corners or you'd probably end up ripping your wheel arch apart

18s for me thanks and thats from experience. Maybe the roads here arent all that great and maybe the cost of new tyres are stopping me from using my 18s at present!!! Also you are very limited as to how low you can go as far as guard mods. My 18s rubbed when cornering hard in bumpy corners.
                      Personal choice for ya Mischa!!

first of all...that pic is hot...needs to be a lil lower but i doubt that would happen! secondly why would you even need the car to work on a practical basis? its got 20's...your not going to be driving on corrugated roads or anything and thirdly i would take 20's any day and do 8pt turns everywhere

I'd go 19s I think they suit the mk5 heaps in any style, I think 18s are a little to small for the guards. Depending on what you want really do you want perfomance then 18s, do you want a compromise then 19s do you just want to bling and go nowhere then obviously something bigger >20s.

The thing is Sydney Roads are that shat that its not even worth destroying wheels on, potholes everywhere and that f.......rken ghay!

i love it......reckon it looks awesome! yes, scraping etc. may be a problem but if you're gonna go 20's you're not going to be a street racer are you...its for looks. some people are after stylish looks rather than performance look (directed at you people who will only buy your small BBS or some form of race look rim). if it wasn't too much of a problem i'd definitely be whacking 20's on golf V. what size are the V R32 rims....18's? i think they almost look too small. the golf V has a very large wheel arch meaning allowing for bigger wheels. if you don't fill it, it doesn't look very good. just my opinion anyway.

EDIT: LOOKS LIKE THE 20's HAVE THEIR NOSE IN FRONT SO FAR

haha wow... 16-17-17 pretty much equal still.

personally i wouldnt put 20's on an mk5 since i like stretchpoke more than tuck

i still think that white golf is blardy hot though.

                              more votes!
