  • Fog lights and auto mode

    Hey people,

Is there any way you can program the car to have the foglights come on with the auto mode?

Yes I know it's illegal to run them....

I *think* you can have them come on with your high beams via Vag Com. Is that what you mean?

Or just leave them on all the time, when u turn the car off they will turn off automatically anyway, thats what i do. I just run with them on all the time, ive noticed that people actually get out of my way a lot more now than they do with lights off.

You could always pull out the switch and splice the wires for the first pull out position to the power on the auto position, or do the same down at the headlight end. Just a crude idea...

Firstly check that they don't dazzle oncoming drivers, and if they don't, then whatever arrangement you have should have a switch so you can switch them off if need be (eg approaching a booze bus at night), as there are times you really do not want extra attention.

Haha, i do that too, i have checked mine and they arent actually that bright, at least in comparison to some of the standard xenon lights on some of the beemers these days.

Any signs of the fuzz and i turn em off just incase.

Leave it in the on mode if you need to save your energy with turning them on.....

                Thanks for the reply's all.

I think I will try the wiring in a switch idea.

                Cheers

I used to have my fog lights on when I had a Subaru, just for poser value like everyone else. I was warned once, and then busted once before I decided not to use them anymore - this is in Perth. Both times the cops pulled me over specifically for it, not anything else, and no, I wasn't using the rear fog light.

They pulled you over because you were in a Subaru, don't worry I still get pulled over everytime I break the WRX out, damn stereotypes.

I wish they'd bust the XR & SS drivers more - their foggies are too damn bright (unlike their drivers...)

Foglights are not daytime running lights.

                        One of my pet hates.

At least with most European sourced cars the fog lights are aimed/designed properly, unlike the poser lights on Aussie cars
