  • My Delivery Experience

Alrighty rocked up to the dealers on Wednesday at the arranged time of 3pm. Sit down with my sales lady and offered my choice of beverage, i politely decline as i cant wait to get into my new toy. We sign the last of the paperwork and she runs me thru the owners manual and all its supplements.

15min later and she says 'OK then, lets go. The cars downstairs'. We go downstairs and then... in its own little room on red carpet is my new pride and joy. Gleaming back at me under the white lights. We spent the next half an hour or so running thru the car and how everything works. Finally im handed the keys, a big hamper and a handshake. All in all couldn't have been happier with the dealer and the whole process.

Car is brilliant. Spent 250kms today in the mountains, couldn't fault it and very much worth the wait.

Nice, i arrived at the allocated time, salesmane wasnt there, had a coffee, waited around for 20 mins, then i saw my car come into the garage, had to wait while they put plates on it (drilled holes arrrgh) and then got a quick tour of the functions but all i wanted to do was get outta there by that stage.

Got home, my personalised plates had arrived and now i got a silly looking frame that is too big for the plates but if i put on a smaller one im left with holes....

I got hit up for an extra $5000 by Austral VW but the request wasn't on the red carpet! I declined to pay the bs extra amount and then wait another few months for my car so went to Highway Auto where they treated me a lot better and helped me out with a GTI.

yeah funny that i had problems at highway auto so went to austral and got way better treatment, no one even acknowledged us when we went to highway, probably because i was wearing thongs, shorts and a tshirt and im only 21, but went to austral the same day wearing the same gear and got served as soon as i walked through the doors.
I guess theres not 'one' dealership that eveyone has had no problems at.

I've never known two dealerships to have as many problems with so many different people. I was forced to buy out of Brisbane (Boettcher at Ipswich) because Highway and, to a slightly lesser extent, Austral were just appalling.

Several weeks back my brother in law and his wife went shopping for a new diesel European car - preferably a mid size sedan with a large boot or a wagon.

His wife really wanted an Audi but changed her mind real quick. She is the national marketing manager of a listed company and does not take kindly to being told to 'come back with hubby and then we can talk'.

He went next time - to Austral - and was told an apppointment was needed as the sales staff were too busy (on a weekday morning?). The final straw was when they both trotted off to Highway and were completely ignored by the tossers who 'work' there.

A Passat would have been the ideal car for them (and it was what they really wanted) but they ended up with a Peugeot 407. My BIL reasoned that if you're stuffed around like this when you want to buy you're likely to get worse treatment when you have the car serviced or (heaven forbid) make a warranty claim.

And you really can't argue with that, can you?

At least you got your car on time! I got screwed on not one car but two at Austral. Heck if they actually supplied me a car for the price agreed and on time and it had pink leather I'd be happy!

One thing I have noticed about having a VW, and every VW dealer I have delt with...The cars are great, but the dealers, their reps, and their service departments have left alot to be desired...Even VW Australia dosn't know how to return a phone call...

My dealer made a really big thing about asking me to complete the VW survey whenever it arrived - she said it makes a real difference to them.

I hope all of the people who actually bought a car from places with poor service put the blades in when the survey arrived?

                            Thanks Guys,

I will post pics of my new ride shortly, i took her out to the mountains to run her in a bit and she got pretty dirty. Apparently for the next week and a half i shouldn't wash it (due to the paint protection etc) so once i can make her look clean again will get some happy snaps up.

I also got the 'please ensure you fill in the survey, when it arrives' from the dealer and they said when i do send it in they will send me out some promo gear.

I'm going through Nepean for the GTI, Nathan has been fantastic so far. Bought my wifes through Barloworld Mascot. Andrew was also fantastic although i must say the service department there are crap. Sales is all about the individual salesman in my opinion.
