just wondering if anyone has taken off the...not really sure what you call them...the strips on the outside of the door...meant to help protect them but cant say they look to good...
so are they easy to take off?
and is it worth it?

You are talking about door seals on the doors for which I am sure that they are glued on.
So yes it would be pain in the rear to put them back on

alternatively get them painted body colour.

i think mischa means to get them painted in the same metallic/pearlescent colour with clear coat etc, like the rest of the paint work, rather than being a black bumpstrip. i think the gt/gti/r32 have these colourcoded (painted same as bodywork)

in pulling them off you'd probably have to repaint anyway..

They are glued on. Taking them off will ruin your doors leaving glue marks all over. If you want them painted same metallic color you need to paint whole doors ....
They are not door seals but scratch protectors....
