Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

You sure it doesn't turn off with the CANBUS? Like if you switch a cabin light on manually, it turns off when you lock the car?

Other than wiring something up between the ignition barrel and the 12V socket, then AFAIK you can't code anything like that.

I'm not saying I don't believe you but I feel as though VW wouldn't do that, it's too easy a thing for people to do and would flatten the battery a lot

My front 12v socket operates in sync with the ignition... Would have thought that is standard?

I haven't checked my front 12V socket but the one in the boot stays on. I know because it flattened the battery when the fridge was left on by mistake. '06 TDI.

Yep ours is on 24/7. We just lift the plug to the GPS up slightly, works fine, too easy.
