Just wanted to share with all of you...

For the past week, I could not activate my back wiper. I booked a service at Volkswagen Doncaster earlier this morning.

The technician told me that it would take them at least 1-2 hours to diagnose what the issue is. So, I made my way up to the customer lounge. Barely had a made myself a coffee when the technician came to me and said that the problem has been fixed.

With a straight face, he explained that the boot was latched, but not closed completely, hence the wipers not functioning.

I did not really know where to hide my face, other than to apologize and thank the technician profusely.

Well, embarrassment aside, I was relieved that there was nothing technically wrong with my car...

Thanks. You may very well have saved a number of others from making the same mistake

LOL - I know how you feel. I complained to the dealer that passengers couldn't open the boot when I was picking them up. The dealer spent ages trying to find the "fault" to no avail. Then I read in the manual that the boot automatically locks once you excede 40kmh. "How embrassment!!"

              Oh snap!

Having a brother that's a mechanic by trade, you have very little to worry about. I can't think of any of his cracker stories right this minute, but believe me when I say you won't be the dumbest person that mechanic has seen.

              Still, glad it was you....

I once got my car towed from my driveway because it simply wouldn't start.

Turns out it had run out of fuel. Dad had driven it, parked it, and left it there. I arrived home a week later and tried to start it, and no go.

In my defence, the fuel gauge was faulty and showed half a tank was left. The slight incline the car was parked on was enough to cause the fuel to hide from the fuel pump... car 1, me 0.

Yeah, I felt like a bit of a muppet... especially when the service guy tapped the fuel gauge a few times and it shot from half a tank to beyond empty!
