    Hey all,

Looking to replace an igniter and bulb in my MkV Golf's xenons. Trying to avoid the premium charged in Oz by VW (~$680) but keep it OEM. Have found the stuff on a US site for $350 landed, but would love to know if anywhere local can help.

    Anyone had a similar challenge?

    Part numbers:

    1T0941471 (igniter) - https://www.europaparts.com/headligh...1t0941471.html

    N10445701 (bulb) - https://www.europaparts.com/bulb-n10445701.html or Philips Xenon Vision D2S (Single) | PowerBulbs

I have no experience with xenon bulbs but for halogen I found powerbulbs to be good and ebay is full of fakes. Powerbulbs do ship from UK so can take a little while.

No advice for locals sorry but how did you determine both the bulb and ignighter need replacement?
    MK4 GTI - Sold
    MK5 Jetta Turbo - Sold
    MK5 Jetta 2.Slow - Until it dies.

Powerbulbs Xenon bulbs will be legitmate. They don't sell rubbish or fakes.

Can I ask why you are replacing the ignitors? I understand bulbs wear out...

        Hey guys,

        Thanks for your replies peeps!

I'll go through Powerbulbs and see if I can't get expedited shipping as I'm currently without a headlight/unroadworthy. Do you reckon I should get for both to ensure a match?

Have taken it to a VW specialist who's told me the igniter is gone also. That was all before I did my research which subsequently showed me how easy it is to change bulbs (a mate told me they were difficult). I'm thinking about just swapping igniters from either side to double-check.

If you are planning to keep the car long term and there is a significant cost saving in buying from Powerbulbs (who I do recommend from past experience) I'd buy a pair.

As for testing the igniter, if you swap the good bulb for the blown one, that will tell you if the igniter is OK or not.
