  • Golf GT SPORTS TDI DSG

Hi guys... new to this forum and will be the first time to drive a golf (if i end up getting it LOL) so i apologize if the question i am about to ask has been answered on previous threads.

Test drove Golf GT Sports DSG two weeks ago, and then contacted a few dealers (via email) and came down to 38,600 driveaway (basically 4300 discount and 995dealer delivery, no options except for metallic black magic and DSG transmission...

Is this reasonable, or should i add leather and/or sunroof and ask for more discount???

OR, get GTI without any option instead?

P.S. Loved the golf, we were thinking about getting the mini, but found golf more practical (and fast for what you pay).

The GTI guys will tell you to get a 3 door bare-bones GTI.
The TDI guys will tell you you're doing the right thing.
The TSI guys will tell you to save 5K and buy a petrol.

At the end of the day, none of US have to drive it...

38600 driveaway for a GT Sport TDI with metallic paint and DSG!? I'm hoping that's a typo, or otherwise I'm extremely upset! I paid nearly 43k drive away from memory for mine. I did get a sunroof, but that sure as hell aint worth the extra 4k+ I forked out over the price you've been quoted. If I'd known they are prepared to discount them that heavily, I would have haggled a hell of a lot harder!

I'm thinking the looming end to the financial year would play a big part. I know at Mascot the list price for Passats is now the drive away price.

Dead right. 12 months ago I got a nice end of month/end of financial year deal too.

It's the best time to buy a car, that's fer sure.

Don't fret mate, we're in similar company on the new price, although I did get a rather inflated trade....

I think it's reasonable. I got my GT TSI Manual for a tad less then 34k. But then it was manual and not diesel. Cheers!

Price is right for corporate plus. I went for leather because I think it makes the seats nicer and I like the heaters.
I couldn't get anyone to budge from the corporate plus pricing.

Thanks guys. reading this thread and all information provided in this forum, i am confident that i will be enjoying the GT to the fullest.

the only concern is it being MY08 (2008 compliant) but 07 build. I guess it's true for all golfs out there that are bought during the first 2Q of this year.

Thats about right with corporate. i paid 40,500 otr with sunroof, metallic and mats etc. so leaves it $38600 + $2000 (sunroof) + $790 (metallic)

i reckon u can squeeze a bit more.

Steve, is yours an 08 build?

Logzy, you reckon i should be able to get an 08 build? i am a bit worried for the after market price later when i am ready to dispose it (if i'd ever get rid of it, LOL)

I would be wanting an 08 build unless the resale doesn't really interest you. In my case i will be handing the keys back after 4 yrs and getting a new car so it doesn't really worry me apart from the fact it may have been sat in storage or a stealers yard.
