  • MK5 Golf Seat Swap

    Hey guys,

I am considering getting leather jetta/golf mk5 seats and was wondering if anything additional was needed or if it's just straight swap? I've got a 2006 golf tdi without heated seat options etc. so will this affect the connectors or anything? (I've tried searching google/forums but couldn't find anything helpful)

    thanks

I did the swap about 4 yrs ago in my previous MKV GTI. I had the original cloth (jacky/ tartan) seats and swapped with full leather from a wrecked MKV GTI. It was very straight forward, they basically bolted straight in. The only problem, which you may also face as well is that because my original cloth seats did not have heated seats or electric lumbar support, these 2 functions did not work on the new seats. So basically, in winter I couldn't heat the seats, which was not a big deal and I also couldn't change the lumbar support setting, which was kind of annoying. I was told that you could wire up both of these settings, but it involved going to an auto-electrician so I never bothered. Also as my car didn't have the heated seat controls on the climate control it would of needed a whole new climate control unit. To be honest, I now have factory leather seats in my current MKV GTI and apart from a recent trip to the snow, I never use the heated seats function, and once you have your ideal lumbar setting you never touch that button either.

If you search my user name you will find my original post about it.
