  • GTI climate control issue

    Hi All,

My climate control is too cold. I had this problem a while ago and took it to a aircon specialist. They said it was the sensor in the panel - it was always reading 28 degrees.

They replaced the panel and all was okay...for a while.

Now it is happening again. I've checked going into the diagnostic module what the sensor temperature is. Has anyone else had this problem and if so what was the fix?

I'm thinking of replacing it with the Mk6 panel. Is that just plug and play? I was also going to get the Climatronic air sensor kit - 2008 GTI didn't have it. It seems like it is plug and play too.

Too Cold? Jeez I cant even get mine to be cold enough

I believe you need to get the whole front face to house the MK6 Panel.
Hell, you could even put in a MK7 panel

Plug and Play? Might need to code a thing or two and possibly a wire to what I have read on some forums.

I am about to sell my unused Mk6 panel plus the Mk5 fascia insert to support it. I never got around to fitting it to my Mk5 before I sold it.

I also have the air quality sensor to go with it.

Can you point me to those forums? I've been searching but haven't found anything that's mentioned coding and wiring.

Let me know how much you want for it. Bold Sport has the frame and panel kit for USD140 and the air sensor kit for USD40.

You will need to code if you want to add the Air Quality Sensor and switch 2 pins in the loom if you want it to remember the temperature when you turn the car off:

Not sure really. I only sold the Mk5 last week so I hadn't got around to thinking about this. PM me an offer and let's work something out!
