VIN tellling where the car was built

Hi Guys,

I know i read in a topic somewhere (but now cant find) that you cant ell which plant your car was built in by the VIN. Can anyone please tell me the coding system used so i can check mine.

Whats this new thing called Google???

If you used google and typed in "VW VIN" you would have seen it as the first result in the search.

Looks like i also must have got one of the last built mexican jettas to come to Aus before they go to SA for manufacturing.

My Jetta arrived in the country on Saturday the 31st, and it is Mexican.

The S.A. manufacturing for the Jetta's came online during May so I am guessing there wont be any on the ground for a few weeks at least.....

Where abouts are you located? I am due to take delivery on Wed (11/06) in Brissie and apparently it arrived here around the 23/05

The car was due on the 5th June (yesterday).

At this stage the stealer is estimating 'no later than the 19th'. I am gussing as I can legally cancel the contract at that point

We shall see!

I am in Vic btw.
