  • Rain Sensing Windows - Auto Close

I know this has been posted before but if people are still keen on doing it here are some details.

First of all you can only do this with a VAG-COM cable.

The Ross Tech wiki explains what the actual coding does and how to convert it

For me my original coding was 00208933 which converted to 00471077. If your original coding matches mine then don't waste your time converting.

There were some unanswered questions about where the wiper stalk needed to be for the Rain Sensor closing to work.

This weeks crap weather has been useful for testing

I can confirm that the stalk can be on either "Auto" (regardless of the sensitivity setting) or "Off"

In terms of response time, in light consistent rain it took about 2 minutes each time.

I am located in North West Sydney so if anyone would like it or other VAGCOM work done don't hesitate to ask

    Cheers

You buy them from the ross-tech website.

They are around $300 for the USB cable + software + shipping.

I inherited mine and a cheap old laptop. Used it up to 10 times, though I have fixed a few error codes with it and saved a trips to the service department.

Also a laptop comes in handy unless you can park nice and close to your window

May be a stupid question..... What happens if your driving in light rain will the window go up? Or is this just when the vehicle is off that it triggers?

                No problem.
You can also add the rain closure option to the MFD settings menu too and if you have a sunroof it will close that too. (So i'm told, i dont have one)

Its the on wiki page linked.

Convert your original code (Eg. 208933) which is in Decimal to HEXADECIMAL
                  You would get 33025
Making this into a proper hex code results in 03 30 25.
Add the value of “4”to the leftmost BYTE (03), this gives you “07”.
Now you have 07 30 25, convert that back to DECIMAL, and your new Rain Light Sensor code is 471077.
