Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Still loving my Mk5 GTI. Put some Koni sports on the rear last week (at 84xxxkms) as the rear OEM dampers were stuffed (probably since ~70,000kms on). Ride is much improved. Handling much the same.

          hi all mkv experts,
I am looking to get 2009 GTI and have few questions.
          1. Anything in particular I should check before the purchase
          2. How much I should be paying? - looking at this - 2009 Volkswagen Golf GTI V Auto MY09
          3. I do high kilometers (25-30k a year) - Will it serve me well upto 150k on the clock or they start giving issues 100k later?

          Thanks in advance.

            Glad To hear!

That low km 09 looks good macdub.

I'm not an expert on the mk5 but there is the usual things you have to look into.

You will be up for major service before 100k which you will have to factor in.
If it's been kept to service internals then would be good.

I love my MY07, partly because the previous owner took such good care of it! I paid $13k with 105,000km on the clock.
You should get plenty of life with such low Km's and I would ask for some warranty for that price!
            Cheers

              Still lurking every day!

btw, anyone know a good place to buy the chrome switches for headlights/windows/fuel filler cap and whether a LH drive set will work on RH drive?

Thanks golfmeup. I had a look at the car today. It was in good nick but the dealer is not moving the price at all. Meanwhile, Another red came up on carsales which is 2006.
Anyone knows the difference between MY06 vs 07-08-09??

                    I'm still around.
MY09 GTI DSG. Just clicked over 50k, yes just 50k and 6 1/2 years old.
                    Second set of tyres.
I'm annoyed that I spent $1,500 on an extended 3 yr new car warranty and only used $750 of it
Otherwise all good and a very good car
