Probably some things worth noting if you don't want to read that much:- It is on sale in Australia for about $800!
- Many users of the forum have reported the sound quality is excellent
- GPS works in Australia
- The unit has been hacked and they are in the process of loading different software for the GPS - it comes with Route 66 and some guys are probing with Mio, TomTom, etc software.

theres a thread on that unit in the audio section... I'd prob take a look at it, if it didn't beep at everything you did!

We are aware of this unit it is AVC or something like that, it received mixed reviews, I have seen it in action and wouldn't put it in my new GTI, the interface is just like on those K Mart DVD players - shocking!!! So the reason for my post was to inquire whether anyone had seen them installed or reviewed.
That looks very cool, if satnav worked over here it would be a winner for 790 euro!
It will work here in Australia, although some mocking software mocking around would be required (I don't see that as a problem). I will try to dig as much info as possible and will keep everyone updated. It is a very good alternative to RNS 5100 for the 3rd of its price

Actually it has a bunch of features that would have to be optioned from the factory, so the price is more like: the factory satnav, BlueTooth kit, iPod kit, and reversing sensors -> $3000 + $800 + $300 + $800 = $4900.
So at $899 it's more like 1/5th of the price.
Scabby interface (at the moment) or not, I could spend the extra $4000 on coilovers, stab bars and a nice set of 18's...
We're not talking about comparing similar $3000 units - it's under $900! And I'm not dissing anyone choosing the RNS, but the AVC is tremendous bang for the buck.

I have one and I couldnt be happier though the Tassie maps arent up to date. No beeping at all and the reversing camera is great. It looks like you are reversing at 50km/h!!! Used it yesterday while reverse parking in the local city.
The bluetooth is clear and no problems with people hearing me. APR exhausts arent noisy!!!
I havent bothered with the TV in it and the sat pickup is hidden under the top grill on the GTI. Even picks up satellites inside vmy workshop here.
Wiring up from the reverse light was a pain though
It is featured in the radio section on this forum.
