Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Will MK5 Golf R32 full suspension swap over into an MK5 Jetta?

I have found a full set of MK5 Golf R32 suspension and I am curious if it will fit into my MK5 06 model Jetta. Has anyone ever done this. My understanding was that all MK5 Golf/Jetta have interchangeable suspension setups?

Your right in saying that Mk5 suspension components are interchangeable with other Mk5 models but only when it comes to the FWD platform.
As with the MK4, the Mk5 4Motion suspension components are only interchangeable with the Audi Quattro range in the Mk5 platform due to sway bar end link mounting points being on the shock tower its self. The rear components may fit but dont quote me.

This is only how i understand it as i had the same issues with my Bora 4mo when searching for coilovers. I ended up buying H&R coilovers to suit an Audi TT in the end.

we fitted the r32 suspension to my son's(samsari1) jetta. everything is the same, fitting wise. the differences are the r32 struts/shocks are gas filled and the springs are shorter, but the ride height ended up exactly the same, although much stiffer.
