  • New Golf TDI questions

OK, it looks like Chatswood win, with $36500 OTR for Pacific TDI DSG with metallic paint...

    So now the questions begin..
    1. What is the service interval?
    2. It says that stereo is "mp3 compatible". Does that mean an aux socket or just that it can play burned CDs?
    3. The current brochure describes the DSG slightly differently for some models, eg doesn't mention tiptronic on TDI models. What does this mean?

    cheers,
    ..Neil

    cheers,
Tiptronic is a conventional auto found on 1.6 and 2.0 FSI engine as opposed to DSG which is fitted to TSI and TDI engines.

      cheers,
      1. 15000 (even though chatswood will tell you 7500, thats just them trying to reach into your pockets, their 7500 service isnt even an oil change, its just a inspect the car and pocket 200$ service)

      2. no aux in, just a cd player that can play mp3 files put onto a cd.

3 the dsg tdi has the tiptronic style shifting (bump the shifter up to go up a gear and down to go down a gear). however its not called tiptronic because tiptronic refers to a conventional automatic transmission. the dsg is 20x better because its a twin clutch automatic shifting manual. ie: its mechanically a manual but shifts for you.

on price: you can do better than that

on chatswood classic cars: if you want your car to be 3 months late and have a world of lies spun to you, then go to them. otherwise drive 20mins extra to hornsby and squeeze a better price out of them

Even though the brochure refers to the DSG as having "tiptronic gear selection and sports mode"! Confused now? LOL

Yes, and as the old saying goes, a happy customer will tell 1 person of their experience, an unhappy customer will tell 100 or in your case thousands! LOL

I had a similar experience with my dealer, understand how frustrating it is to be lied to.

It may be that the Pacific doesnt get the "flappy paddles" that come on GT, GTI and so forth.

                  Thanks everyone for the replies...
It was the reference to "tiptronic" with dynamic shift programme on petrol models as opposed to the references to DSG on the TDI models with no mention of tiptronic nor dynamic shift programming. I now understand that the DSG also has manual selection options (I would call tiptronic), not sure yet about the intelligent modification of shifting points.
As far as paddles go, the same applies to Touareg. My R5 did not have them but a V10 would have. I was able to order a set from the USA through a contact in ClubTouareg very cheaply, and a simple VAG-COM change activates them. Best thing since sliced bread...
Probably won't look for them on the Golf, as this will be SWMBO's car and she thinks automatics are for leaving in D.
