  • Warranty Transferred on 2nd hand cars?

Sorry - possibly a dumb question but if buying a 2nd hand 2007GTI that was bought less than a year ago, does the remaining warranty go to the new owner? I assume it does as all the ads for 2nd hand GTI's state how much warranty is left.

But what if the car was bought in another state? Say someone bought a GTI in WA then a new owner got it 2nd hand and brought it to VIC or SA, or NSW? Will the warranty work be fulfilled by a local VW dealer or representative or is it somehow void because the car is now in a different state?

    Thanks!

Yes, warranty is transferred within Australia. VW Aus does not care about state boundaries.

Look in the Owners Manual - you should find a form for notifying VW Aus of the name and address of the new owner(s).

Dealers like doing warranty service - they get paid by VW Aus. Doesn't matter whether its the original selling dealer or not, as long as they are VW Aus dealers.
