Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

i have both the codes for the GTI and Peugeot and i keep them in a safe easy to remember place

Isn't the VW one just the last 7 digits of the VIN number and is what they attach to the keys when the car is produced so they can identify which key goes to to which car?

AFAIK to organise a new key VW just order one just based on your VIN number.

Have you get a quote on a new one? It's coming up to the end of the financial year so you might have some leverage.

If you have an ABN remember you can claim back a % of GST, stamp duty etc..

...or, if you work for a LARGE company, you may even qualify for a Corporate Discount. (I received over 12% off rrp and super low DD charges on the .:R32).

...funny you should mention end of fin year, dontsailbackwards. Do you think VW will officially launch an eofy special, or will it be the privilege of savvy consumers to sniff out additional pricing leeway? Surely VW is not immune to this pressure? All other marques reduce their prices at this time, as at end of calendar year... esp as sales are slowing horribly as economic stressors increase!
