    Hi all,

Pick up a Graphite Blue, Gti, 5 Door, DSG, Leather, Roof on Saturday morning from Barloworld at Mascot.

Will be leaving Newcastle around 5 in the morning by train to get to Sydney nice and early.

    Will post PICS asap.

    Already looking for some 19's.

PS: Ordered the black but changed to the blue after reading some horror posts on the black colour.

    Cheers.

    sounds good. congratulations

I know what it is like to focus on the specs during a new car purchase, but you left out some key bits - GT, GTI, diesel or something else? oh - and Golf or Jetta?

            re: Drive home.

I have to drive from Sydney to Newcastle, any precautions i should take ie: Break in or just drive home on the 110km/h?

            Thanks.

dont sit on just one speed or RPM. Shift up and down the gears where you can.

The first few hundred k's are the window. Vary the speed as mentioned, and I'd labour the car in higher gears than normal and make it work from down low in the revs. Lot's of higher gear, higher throttle uneconimical driving, so the cylinders have high pressure, but the higher gears don't let that become crazy speeds. It's all about forcing those precious rings against the cylinder walls as hard as possible while it's all still rough enough to actually machine wear in.

I'd spend my time on the freeway in a slower lane, a bit below the limit in 6th, flooring it, backing off, flooring it, backing off, as much as you can around the speed limit and traffic. Better yet find the hilliest and twistiest way home!

The only reason you don't just flog the thing at high revs is you need to allow tyres, trannies, diffs, brakes etc time to bed in as well. You're after high combustion pressure, not revs. Easily done by making the car labour by selecting a higher gear or two than the situation demands.
