  • Swapping DSG Shifter to GTI/R32 Shifter

I've recently purchased a replacement DSG shifter that would normally fit a GTI/R32 Golf for my GT Sport which has a normal DSG shifter (worn out needs replacement). Has anybody done this conversion before? Been told that you need to heat some parts and re-orient them. Some help/pictures would be awesome !!

    Thanks in advance

I did it to my TDI but when I heated the shifter pin it snapped off.
I ended up buying a shifter out off a mk6 as they have the same front pull knob design as the mk5 gti/r32 and fitted that.

Do you think I'd be able to buy just the pin separately in case I broke anything or do I need the whole mechanism ?

I don't think you can buy just the pin.
If you run into problem and need a shifter, I have just got a GTI at work so if you run into problems let me know.
