Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. • Headlight removal?

Hi guys, looking for a bit of help. I got all excited about fitting my new projector headlights (Angel Eyes) to my GT Sport on the weekend, but ended up very disappointed as I couldn't work out how to get the factory lights out.

I removed the obvious bolt at the top, but there seems to be fastening points on the bottom which, it appears, cannot be accessed without dismantling the entire front end of the car?

Surely I don't have to remove the entire front bumper just to get headlights out?

From what I've seen of the headlights there is a attachment that goes down the front of the chassis which will mean front bumper removal.

There is a how to on golfmkv.com from memory.

Thanks guys, I don't suppose you have a link to that 'how to'? I'm reluctant to take on the job without some instructions.

As a fellow GT Sport owner I'd really like to see what these look like installed and operational. So don't hold back with the digital camera mmmmkay? And, as a mechanical skills-challenged owner, some feedback on the install process would also be greatly appreciated.

Where did you source your new headlight assemblies from? Parts4Euro or elsewhere?

                      Thanks again

                        You da man Mischa!

Greg, I am cutting back on the mods (well I'm trying desperately hard to ignore those little voices in my head anyway ) , but I've actually had these sitting here for 6 weeks now waiting to be installed.

I got them from ebay (yeah, yeah I know) but they seem to be of decent quality, and I reckon they'll look biz when fitted. I've also got some black LED tails fitted already which I really like the look of too. I'll post pics when I get the headlights installed.

How much hyperbole is in that comment?

I'd also like to throw on tinted rears, but have been wondering about the degree of difficulty involved. Is it really a couple of minutes per side?

                            Thanks

Pull back the carpet behind the tail lights. undo two bolts on each light. use a flathead screwdriver to pull out the cables and you're done . id say 42 - 45 seconds per side
