Coilover recommendation?

Hi guys,
Just curious as who has what.
My car is great but, when doing enthusiastic mountain runs my car can't handle the corners as well as my friends.
I am on a budget but, still want to know whats out there

it is more than just coilovers. first check is what tyres are you using? there is a big difference in corner grip between budget tyres and high quality grippy tyres (e.g. advan ad08r, hankook rs-3). you could have kw clubsport but if running on bob jane tyres, it is pointless.

p.s. shouldn't mention your car can't handle corners on public roads given how strict the speed limits are (e.g. mountain runs), especially on public forums... but the vwwatercooled happy laps could be your best avenue in Brisbane to test corners in a legal and safe environment

KW and Bilstein coilovers are generally your better coilovers for the mk5. they have different models depending on what level of adjustment and performance you want out of them. if you're only after height adjustability, KW v1 and Bilstein PSS9 would be your best bet. For more adjustment such as rebound and compression along with height, you'd be looking at KW v3 and Bilstein PSS10. prices have dropped for these quite a bit and during sales, you can generally find them around 1.5-1.7k for the v1 and PSS9. not too long ago, they were going for closer to 2.5k.

if you're after reducing the roll, particularly on the rear, a cheaper yet less effective option would be to get a rear sway bar. as always though, good tyres are the best bang for buck mod you can do on almost any vehicle (car or motorbike).

If you are on a budget Anti Roll Bars make way more difference than anything else, that is what I would spend on
Tyres are a given

A lot of cheap coil overs will send you backwards (harsh ride, not good dampening) That said, something like the two mentioned above are both very good for the road and not an issue
