Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Mk V Door Cards

    All,

I have Mk5 GT Sport TDI.

The front doors have a fabric insert behind the door pull that also follows the contour of the armrest. For whatever reason the fabric has come adrift.

I have a couple of options I guess. I have come across a couple of second hand full door skins ($77ea) The fabric covered section is in good condition, but the rest of the panel is pretty ordinary.

Can anyone tell me if the cloth covered panel can be removed from one skin and put back on another? I can see lots of instructions on how to remove the door skin, but no comments or close ups to indicate that the cloth covered section can be removed. (is it all clipped together, is it heat sealed etc)

Anyone had the same issue or are there a thousand other options out there? Any comment will be helpful.

    Regards

    Joe R

Try going to a wrecker mate, you might find what you need or you might find even better a leather panel
