    Dealer price for secondhand

Dealer will only give you $28k for a GTi. Privately worth more. Take a look at Carsales.com.au and watch the cars on their and the pricing see how long they last or better still call the person selling they will on the average tell you 2 weeks before sold. I researched these prices for 6 weeks before coming up with the price. They hold the value Privately but my price is not set in stone.

Me too. I've been looking for a good 2 months. Anything around $35,000 and under dissapears pretty quickly. Anything over $38,000 is on there for quite some time.

Some people even have 2006 models up for over $40,000. Incredible to think someone would pay that second hand.

            Car Sales Info

I agree with Blue_Reality cars under $38 sell in a reasonable time, those over do not.

Rang all the guys selling the cars on Cars Sales out of the 9 for sale in NSW contacted 8 of them 4 have been sold in 3 weeks, each of these around $38k. Still not taken off line

Of the remaining 4, 2 have been on there since Feb (they do not care if they sell it or not and not prepared to drop the price) 1 has had deposit taken and the other has not taken it off line.

So yes it would seem that if you keep it around $38k and under it will sell in a reasonable time frame. This is also dependent on the accessories you have and if someone wants those, like everything it is only worth what someone is prepared to buy it for.

Be interesting to see what mine goes for when the time comes especially considering I have over $9000 worth of extra options over and above the standard options. But I am well prepared to negotiate.

It is great having this discussion as keep everyone informed of where we are at with current trends and pricing.
