Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Haha yeah it helps to read

I've contacted Darkhorse and Tim from the VCDS thread.

Hopefully get it sorted next weekend.

Also I need help figuring out amp subwoofer wiring.
      It's a Pioneer TS-1208-D4 sub:
Pioneer Electronics car audio and home theater entertainment products including in-car GPS navigation, Android Auto Enabled Receivers, Apple Car Play enabled Receivers, Pioneer and Elite Receivers, headphones, iphone car stereo, car stereos, bluetooth car stereo, car radio, speakers and Blu-ray/DVD Drives

      and an Kenwood 8104D amp:

I had it installed like picture 1 on the right (from amp manual)

This would mean 4 ohm correct?

But in the subwoofer diagram 2 it shows:

which suggests that I am running 8 Ohm?

      Any help would be appreciated.

      Cheers.

So I finished installing everything. I ended up keeping the wiring the same as it seems to be working.
The interior was put together well, I was ready to burn down a kindergarten after trying to put the rear seats back in with those child seat locks. So painful.

The wiring went like this from the battery - across the back of the engine bay behind the firewall insulation, down through the clutch pedal hole (DSG) and then along the door sills to the back. I ran the RCA cables and the remote wire along there as well. No issues with noise interference yet.

After an excellent tip from VW_Tim I ran the wire from the fuse box which means no cables show in the engine bay which is really awesome.

I mounted the amp upside down - I read how this is bad for the amp as the heat rises up into the electronics. However when I opened up the amp it was actually mounted on the top half so I figured it wouldn't make much different.

VW_Tim helped me out last weekend with the canbus as well. Anyone in Brissy definitely hit him up! I had it sitting for 4-5 days and it started first time.

I got an ebay obd2 bluetooth adapter the other day for $15.
Hooked it up and installed DashCommand on the headunit.

It's so cool, what a time to be alive!

On a side note - I wasn't able to control the subwoofer independently so I disconnected the rear speakers and am using the subwoofer as the rears. This way I can control it from the built in amp app.
