  • R32 with 200,000km+ safe to buy???

    Hi guys

considering buying an mk5 r32 with 200,000km mileage

    Volkswagen Golf R32 2008 | Trade Me

Heard talk of dsg & engine failures so:

Is it ok to buy and r32 with this mileage?
What prepurchase checks do i need to do?
    Do they last?
any major service/replacement costs at this mileage?

    Any advice appreciated

I'm not sure about the key barrel replacement, the previous owner replaced the key barrel in my car and ended up frying the ECU as a result. Could be just a bodgey job, but it also could be a problem thats been genuinely fixed, I don't know.

      Sure thanks

How about engine/dsg issues at this mileage
What checks would you do or maintenance be required to avoid problems

      Ie. Fluid changes etc

Check for major service items. Dsg oil, haldex oil, fuel/oil filter changes, transfer case oil. Obviously take it for a drive, if it's jerky then it's showing symptoms of mechatronic issues. Get a vcds reading to see what error codes come up. Ask for any mods made in it as well.

Mechatronics is big bucks. Its something you don't want to go wrong with that car apart from blowing the engine
