Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • What type of air intake for MK5 GTI

I'm looking into upgrading my air intake, I've looked at the K&N systems which range around $700. Money isn't the issue, I'm wanting to know what have people done to theirs and the results.
I'm open to installing other systems into the car but my mind is set on the K&N.

I picked up k&n typhoon cai for $300. Since then I've gone vwr . But as nat225 said Volant, which is right up there with top intakes. The heat soak is not as bad compared to other intakes

whats your thoughts on the k&n typhoon cai? and where did you purchase it from? been searching the web a while and cant to seem to find any local supplies. Would hate having to pay another $200 just for postage.

When purchasing this one do I need to get any extra parts to modify it?

Depending if you have dv relocation or not. I think the intakes with dv bungs are a different part numbers
