Drivers door not unlocking

Hi all,

I hoping someone might be able to help me.

I have looked for other threads/posts and unable find anything.

The problem is the drivers door will not unlock with the remote; only with the key. It sounds like it's trying to unlock (abou 4 clicking noises) and when unlocking with thge key i hear only two! Note it locks OK with remote. No other doors are affected.

To me it sounds like the lock actuator has become a dud.

Does any anyone have any suggestions of a fix? Or is it a visit to the local Service Dept

Does the remote unlock the other door/s OK ? If so, then it is probably a faulty locking actuator or controller (one of the many ECUs in your car), or possibly a wiring fault.

If it unlocks then relocks after approx 30 seconds then it is probably the door sensor (not sensing that you have opened the driver's door). A Vag-com check may show any errors that have been detected and recorded.

dont start playing with it yourself. if you pull it apart they'll just claim you broke it. dealer it is im afraid.

Thanks Mischa, I would not have been confident doing anything anyway if a suggestion popped up.

The Jetta will be in for the 45k service shortly so I'll get it checked out by the experts (assuming the dealership are experts of course)
