  • First detail of the TSI

Ok guys, I got around to getting all of that red dust off (well most of it anyway!)

I started with giving it a full clean with Megs Gold Class shampoo:

Notice the swirls *shudder* (Pretty bad for a new car. Will be taking it up with Iain and the gang at Ozzie Park on Wednesday)

Then I used Pinnacle clay bar. I actually can't believe how many contaminates were on the car as it is new!

The car was looking better already I also gave it another wash with Gold Class with warm water.

I decided to use Poly Lack Nano Clean with all the swirls and how many contaminants were on the car. It is the first time I have used the product. It was very easy to use. I hand applied it here, I was not too sure of using the RO on a blue edge or not, so I went the safe route.

Plates off to make it easier to clean the bumpers

Then to finish up I used the Poly Lack Nano Seal

Ok Now this is the problem.... This is the underneath of the car STILL!!!!
What is an easy and safe way of getting all of this nasty crap off? I am thinking degreaser or truck wash on a hoist? Suggestions?

Any comments welcome especially with removing these swirls!

And now tomorrows mission, The other car (Which I also used to go down south with)

nice TSI. I'm feeling a bit guilty about only washing mine today. I don't have the patience for the claybar + further processes.

A 4x4 shop has some (normal garden) hose attachments that are designed to get under the body and pump some relatively high pressure water under there. They're on a long metal wand, with a curved end so you can get right underneath... will be great for cleaning underneath the CX-7 too.

As it won't be baked on you should be able to just blast it out.
Do it on the lawn (assuming you have one) as you'll use loads of water.

Great job with the clay bar. I gave my TSI a wash and polish finished off a sealant today.

I noticed that even after the polish the surface isn't perfectly smooth. I've read some articles that suggest a full detail (wash, clay, polish, wax) as soon as you get a new car because of the rough treatment they get in the car yard before the dealer cleans them up for delivery. Haven't checked mine for swirls though.

Is there a place like final inspection in Perth?

I cbf cleaning my car and would be happy to pay for it to be done for me. Recent surgery on my back also makes it a fairly irritating process.

The last detailer I used (although he did a great job), was just a bit too fiddly in terms of arranging a time as it all happened at my place.

Has anyone used the place on Canning Hwy South Perth?
I quite like that idea asthere's a Muzz Buzz Cafe in front of a car wash, so I could sit on my arse and drink coffee, saying stuff like 'you missed a spot'.

Hi Dan682, if you look up your white pages and find AUTOSMART dealer ( mobile car detailer supplier ) and get some G101 off him. Use full strengh under car, spray up total under car then just wash with car wash and sponge. You will be amazed how easy it comes back to brand new. Amazing product on your front bumper and windscreen to remove bugs. I have been a mobile car detailer for 20 years and have used many products with G101 being the best by a mile. Hope you find this helpfull. Larry TGT20

There is nobody like Final Inspection, They are in a class of their own.

However I have a good detailing mate that does cashies, or even I would be willing to do it myself if you are keen?
