Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Adapting key fob

Has anyone succeeded adapting a second key fob? Remote control, not immobiliser, via vcds? I got to the part where it says to press 1 or 2 buttons on the remote and the car's emergency light blinks once, suppose to signal that the fob has been recognised but it's wont unlock/lock doors.. I can use it to manually unlock the doors and start the car but be good if I can make it lock/unlock via the buttons. Cheers

That would be a 1K Golf with 3 button remote?

Part number should be 1K0959753G. If you separate the remote from the flip key the part number should be on the back of the remote or in where the key flips out from, unless it is worn off. You will see the part number in my link below.

You can program in a used remote. If you do have the wrong remote I have aftermarket ones of these available, they look exactly the same as OEM and are the same quality.
